WW2 - AAF Squadron/Group Insignia
One of the nicest chenille patches I've had in a long time. This is for the 869th Bomb Squadron, 497th Bomb Group of the 20th AAF which flew both B-17's and then the B-29. It measures 5 1/2" at the longest side. Still has the paper tag for "Akron Felt & Chenille Co. out of Akron, Ohio. Near mint condition.
A used, but not abused, theater made version of the 64th Fighter Wing patch. The patch measures 4 5/8" by 3 3/8". It has some staining but is right as rain. This unit was comprised of the following Fighter Groups: 27th, 50th, 86th, 324th and 358th. They were involved in Africa, Italy and European campaigns. Good shape.
