WW2 - Small Groupings

A neat little grouping of personal items to Maj. Gen Van R. Shores who graduated from West Point in 1936, was then assigned to the 29th Pursuit Squadron in the Panama Canal Zone, later flew 29 combat missions in Spitfires while with the 12th AAF and went on to a prominent career in the USAF holding many command offices. A short history comes with this grouping. Included in the grouping are some of his Maj. Gen. insignia, leather flight jacket name tags, patch and card to "Sigma Nu Fraternity", a golf ball with his name from McChord AFB 1962, a Sixth AF napkin ring with his name, when he was just a Colonel and some other personal items. Neat little grouping.

From the estate of Mary Trost, a direct descendant of Major General Albert H. Stackpole, 79th Infantry Division, his General Officer's belt and buckle with the original issue box. Included with the near mint belt and buckle is one of his swagger sticks, leather wrapped with his initials on the top of the pommel. I tried for some of the other items offered, but everything went sky-high.

When do you ever see a Bombigator Wing?? This grouping is to Lt. William J. Davis, who received his Bombardier-Navigator rating on 3 Eeb. 1945 at Hondo AF, Hondo, Texas. Lt. Davis flew as a Bombigator on C-47's during the German Occupation and had a very illustrious career until his retirement in 1963. Included in this grouping are his AAF Bombigator Wings by "Gemsco", his AF Senior Pilot Wings by "Meyer" and a jacket nametag with wings, a set of foreign wings, his ribbon bars, his named AF Commendation Medal plus other patches and insignia many Diplomas, Award Certificates and Citations from 1944 to 1963, Oct. 1944 issue of "Bombigator" with his picture inside, two different Pilot Training Class Books from Maxwell Field, Ala. (44J & 44K), plus a large box of personal paper and records. I didn't have the time to go through everything, but this is a super grouping to a "REAL" BOMBIGATOR from WW2. When will the next one come along??
